On July 14th, 2021, AAA held their Christmas in July function, at Graduate House, to raise money towards the Language Awards,. It was a most enjoyable evening with a very festive atmosphere.

The Australian-Asian Association is a great way of bridging cultures, and for me, particularly through the study of Asian languages.
Wreath laying at Commemorative Service
On July 12th a member of the Australian Asian Association laid a wreath at the Commemorative Service honouring the life of Sir Edward ‘Weary’ Dunlop. Every year a ceremony takes place at Sir Edward’s statue in Kings Domain, St Kilda Road.

Our Guest Speaker, Sobia Massod, is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne. She is on study leave from the Fatima Jinnah Women University in Pakistan where she is a lecturer at the Department of Gender Studies. The diverse cultural influences in Pakistan have shaped the food that is found there. Sobia will talk about food and its relationship with her culture and she will also link the comfort food provides and the joy Pakistanis get in sharing it with others.
